Hi everyone and welcome to a summer post from your favourite Méribel blogging ski instructor, direct from Méribel again. After a few months in the UK, it was time to head back to the French Alps and enjoy some fresh mountain air. We can't avoid the fact that it feels as though the whole of the summer has been a heatwave. And I have to say, the drive down saw some frightening temperatures. I was hoping it would feel nice and cool up in the mountains, but I'll be honest and say that it's been roasting hot here as well. All photos taken in the last week or so.

I'm happy to set the alarm nice and early if I'm heading out for a hike, making sure I complete each route by lunchtime, when I then hunker down in the apartment until the cooler dusk period. Likewise I'll be on one of the first ski lifts with my mountain bike , ensuring I enjoy the outdoors before whizzing back for the shade again at lunchtime. Mountain biking feels more comfortable in these temperatures compared to hiking because of the extra airflow!

Ignoring the heat for the moment, it is incredible to be back here again. I left resort at the end of April, and the place transforms so quickly between spring and summer. Just like during the ski season, the mountain views constantly blow me away. Even though I spend the equivalent of half the year here, this scenery puts smile on my face, and is a constant distraction. Some of you reading this post will be regular visitors to the 3 Valleys ski area, and may recognise some of the above photos. They are familiar because they are iconic views, but at the same time looking very different not buried under snow.
I also love checking out the flowers. Here are a couple that I spotted up at Saulire, which is at an elevation of 2,700 metres. It's extraordinary that these tiny little flowers grow up there. I've used the PlantNet app to name them for us.

Aren't they lovely little things?

Without trying to sound as though I'm repeating myself, it feels so good being back and enjoying the high mountains. The fresh air, the views, being active in the outdoors, whether hiking, cycling, or even skiing in the winter. What a place to be?

Right, I'd better stop waffling and waxing lyrical about the French Alps, because I need to plan ahead for my adventures tomorrow. As ever let's finish off with my usual credo, all together now......Live With Passion. Martin.
